2 Days Intensive Sewing
The Cut offers you a variety of two-day intensive workshops designed to maximize your industry knowledge within a minimum time frame. In these hands-on workshops, students will be immersed in all facets of the fashion business. With lectures, class discussions, and hands on instruction students are taught by industry professionals in small group settings, receiving first-class learning in a real-life business environment. Each class is 2 Half-Days / 6 Hours per Day / 12 Hours in Total. There are no prerequisites for our 2 day intensives. Acquire the skills you need to reach your academic and professional goals or complement your current full-time diploma or degree program, or simply build a competitive portfolio for graduate program applications, or just simply become better at your craft.

Pattern Making Fundamentals

Kick start your pattern making career or hobby on our beginner-friendly course where you’ll learn the fundamentals of flat pattern making. In this course you will learn to draft a skirt block. You’ll sew together muslin's of the blocks, fit them and learn how to apply fit adjustments to final pattern.
Enjoy the best of both worlds by studying for a career in fashion, or simply furthering an interest, without giving up your day job. Our comprehensive part-time fashion courses are overseen by the same professors who teach our diploma and certificate courses, the classes are small and the hours better suited to working students, so you get the same rigorous education but with greater flexibility.

This course is designed for students wanting a fast and intensive overview of sewing basics. For students entering the Pattern Making & Assembly Program and Costume, this course is critical should you not have prior knowledge or demonstrated skills in sewing. You will create a sample book which include seams, zippers and bindings. The projects you will make include a tote bag lined, sweatshirt, button up shirt, and more.
You’ll graduate our intensive basic pattern making course with a deep understanding of the principles of this design discipline backed with hands-on training in an industry-level environment.

Fashion Design & Illustration

Join this introduction to fashion design and illustration to develop your technical skills as you conceptualize and create a tightly-edited 12 piece collection for a specific target market. You’ll focus on high-fashion croquis figures, illustration, textile rendering, and use multimedia tools to colour your sketches.
Gerber Digital

This two-week introductory course examines the digital aspect of pattern making and grading using Gerber AccuMark Pattern Design software (V13). Under the guidance of industry professionals, students will receive hands-on instruction covering pattern creation, drafting, digitizing, plotting, manipulations, grading, and marker making.
Couture Embellishment Program

This two-week intensive course delves into the fundamentals of fabric manipulation and couture embellishment in fashion. Utilizing traditional haute couture methods, this course fosters innovative ideas and helps showcase a unique style. Each module covers pleats and tucks, layering, and texture using delicate fabrics and specialty beads and sequins from France. Depending on experience, students will apply these techniques to a pre-made garment of choice, ranging from a jacket, dress, top or a skirt.

The AutoCAD Program is an intensive course designed to equip participants with essential skills for using AutoCAD effectively, totaling 36 hours of instruction. The curriculum begins with an introduction to the interface, setup, and basic drawing techniques, progressing through advanced commands such as polylines, trimming, and filleting. Participants will learn to create and manipulate shapes, utilize arrays, and incorporate text and dimensions into their designs. The program also covers layout setup and printing processes, including the use of CTB files for color-dependent plot styles. By the end of the course, students will have developed a solid foundation in AutoCAD, culminating in a final project that showcases their skills in line weights and overall drawing presentation.
The SketchUp Program is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of 3D modeling using SketchUp, encompassing a total of 36 hours of instruction. The program begins with an overview of the software interface, including environment preparation and basic drawing techniques such as lines, faces, and the push/pull tool. As the weeks progress, students will learn to create and manipulate groups, apply and create textures, and modify objects, including importing CAD plans. The curriculum also covers advanced topics like field of view adjustments, scene creation for presentations, and exporting views to CAD. By the end of the course, participants will have developed a solid foundation in SketchUp, culminating in a final presentation that showcases their modeling skills and understanding of profile modes.
