Fashion Month ~ Top Picks from the Runway

Attention all fashion enthusiasts, fashionistas and fashion designers - Fashion Month has wrapped and we here at The Cut Fashion Academy are stoked to share our favourites! Included in our viewing pleasure were collections from fashion-centric cities around the world who celebrate the industry with prestigious Fashion Weeks: New York, Paris, London, and Milan. Many designers presented awe-inspiring collections filled with textures, colours, and conceptual aesthetics, and it was difficult to narrow down the results!

New York, New York

Marc Jacobs

We begin with New York Fashion Week. The pizazz, the glamour, the weird, and the wonderful. Wacky prints, audacious colours and divine structures were presented on the catwalks. The stand-out collection was by Marc Jacobs. Jacob’s nod to 1960’s glamour icons reflected a sleek, refined feminine silhouette with a high-fashion flare. Pastel yellows, colour blocking and elegant draping sets the scene for what to expect this fall. Along with Marc Jacobs, we are excited to see that pastels made a comeback and were represented across many collections.

The Marc Jacobs collection was a sugary confection of pastels.

Gucci, Gucci, Gucci!

With a playful nod to the seemingly endless revolution of fashion seasons, designer Alessandro Michele produced the literal manifestation of that and turned the Gucci runway into a spinning couture fashion merry-go-round. Baby-doll silhouettes, eccentric textures, playful prints, with the right amount of eccentricity! We love the theatrical nature of this sensational collection.

The Gucci Collection was over-the-top and an incredibly tempting display of opulance.

Iris Van Herpen

Paris Fashion Week really left us bright-eyed and awake. One of the world’s most admired structural designers Iris Van Herpen wowed more than usual. Known for her experimental haute couture she really delivered a spectacular collection. Continuously pushing boundaries in the creative sphere, she creates radical, unique, and unfamiliar forms. The sculptural nature of her designs is transformative and monumental to the industry.

Iris Van Herpen did not disappoint with her new collection. 3D has expanded, rather then hindered, her brand!

London Fashion Week ~Burberry

Our final choice! Burberry is forever the classic with its signature structural and uncomplicated looks. The classic, timeless elements of Burberry’s collection will leave thinking about style. The stunning catwalk had us mesmerized with its garments of soft tones, signature plaids, and leather accents. How beautiful!

Burberry breaking away from its stodgy style by flirting with textures, asymmetry, and an expansion of their usual earth-tone palette.
