Pattern Making Basics: Level 3 (Online)
Kick start your pattern making career or hobby on our beginner-friendly course where you’ll learn the fundamentals of flat pattern making. In this course you will learn to draft a skirt block. You’ll sew together muslin's for the block, fit them and learn how to apply fit adjustments to final pattern.
Take what you’ve learnt from previous classes and put it into practice as you draft a basic pant block and some classic styles before styling and designing your own pants.
Projects Include:
- Pant block
- Quarter top pocket
- Fly front
- Contour waistband
- Spec sheet with technical flat
- Pattern of your own pant design (include innovative garment component)
- Sewn prototype and pattern revisions
Pattern Making Fundamentals With Instructor Zoom Calls
The Pattern Making Basics will give you the advanced building blocks to create an advanced innovative garment component. Learn how to make your own garment patterns from scratch with our new online course, including TWO ZOOM CALLS (Normally set to 5.00 pm PST) with your instructor to go over your projects and needs.
Meet your professors
Katrina Sawan
Having started her fashion design studies at LaSalle College in Montreal, Katrina went on to get her Bachelors and Masters in fashion design at the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode in Paris. Her graduate collection was featured in Paris Fashion Week. Since then she has had internships with various fashion brands around the world in Paris, Tokyo, Berlin and Antwerp. She has gotten her pattern making experience from working with brands like Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene and Ann Demeulemeester. Katrina has also recently worked as a Pattern Maker for Haider Ackermann in Antwerp. Having rounded out her skills by taking classes at The Cut Fashion Design Academy, she is now a Pattern Maker at The Cutting Room here in Vancouver.
