Program Overview
The Graphic Design Core Certificate is a dynamic and comprehensive 1-year program designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the ever-evolving field of graphic design.
Throughout the three terms, students will embark on an immersive
journey exploring various aspects of visual communication and design principles.

Admission Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent or mature student status (19+)
- Admissions interview: in person or by Skype with the Dean or Director of Admissions
- Letter of Intent: describing your career goals (Minimum 250 words)
- English Proficiency: B2 Level (IELTS 5.5 - TOEFL 57 internet-based - 1 63 computer-based - FCE Exam) or equivalent. (If English is not First Language and/or has no formal previous education in English)

Mark den Boer
Alberta University for the Arts (AUArts - originally ACAD)
Graduation Council Chair 1990-91 season.
Mark has been teaching post-secondary design for 24 years at various colleges in Vancouver. A self-admitted polymath with a computing science background, for 33 years he has been a ‘Hybrid for Hire’, with his own freelance business in Vancouver, providing a host of clients with top quality corporate design, art direction, advertising, product photography & CAD. His European background provides a broad foundation of design aesthetics and art history that he brings to bear during course lectures.
Mark is deeply committed to networking amongst the artistic communities to foster resources that make us more effective, stronger and productive.
Victor Del Castillo
Victor Del Castillo is a seasoned Senior UX/UI Visual designer with a diverse background in gaming and advertising. With over a decade in the games industry and extensive experience in graphic design, he's contributed to 12 shipped titles and worked on 15 others across various platforms. Based in Vancouver, Canada, Victor also serves as a mentor and instructor at multiple universities while excelling as a Senior Artist at Gearbox Software. His expertise has earned him numerous national and international awards in advertising and gaming.
