Beginner Draping (Virtual)
Learn the fundamentals of draping on this fun beginner course during which you’ll learn specific techniques, how to drape basic blocks, how to drape your own designs, create paper patterns, and construct your prototype. Required: Basic sewing knowledge.

Meet your professors
Jessica Hsu
Jessica has worked in the fashion industry for almost three decades for brands such as Karma Athletics, Lotuswear Designs Ltd., and Design Group—just to name a few. Currently Jessica is a Senior Technical Pattern Maker at Arcteryx. In addition to Jessica's impressive career, she designs, creates and produces pet wear, uniforms, wedding gowns and other custom formal wear with impressive results. Jessica is an alumni of the prestigious Central Saint Martins School of Design. Jessica is formally trained in British, Canadian and Japanese pattern drafting techniques. A graduate of LaSalle College, Van Nung University, Chin-Chin Institute of Fashion Design, and the Central Saint Martins University of Art short term fashion Design, Jessica has demonstrated a perpetual drive for excellence and constant growth. While Jessica continues to perfect her craft as a freelance designer, it is her dedication and technical expertise that have made her a highly valued employee, instructor and mentor. In addition to being passionate about passing on her knowledge of fashion to aspiring designers, Jessica nurtures her own creativity by taking inspiration from the opportunities around her including yoga, painting, travel, and nature.
Katrina Sawan
Having started her fashion design studies at LaSalle College in Montreal, Katrina went on to get her Bachelors and Masters in fashion design at the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode in Paris. Her graduate collection was featured in Paris Fashion Week. Since then she has had internships with various fashion brands around the world in Paris, Tokyo, Berlin and Antwerp. She has gotten her pattern making experience from working with brands like Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene and Ann Demeulemeester. Katrina has also recently worked as a Pattern Maker for Haider Ackermann in Antwerp. Having rounded out her skills by taking classes at The Cut Fashion Design Academy, she is now a Pattern Maker at The Cutting Room here in Vancouver.
