- Advanced Gerber Functions: Dart Manipulation, Fullness Manipulation And Pleating
- How To Create Advanced Patterns With Gerber (Two Final Projects)
- How To Create Grading Maps
- Two Methods Of Grading On Gerber: Simple Method And Grade Rule Method
- How To Adjust Lining, Facings And Facing
- How To Create Pockets
- How To Create Different Hem Lines
- To Make A Full Size Run Markers And Plotting.
Four Projects Will Be Worked On Throughout The Course. These Projects Include:
- A graded jean ready for production
- a graded jacket ready for production
Advanced Gerber Accumark: Pattern Making And Grading Level 2 Part-Time
During this 6 week Gerber course, students acquire knowledge in advanced functions of Gerber such as digitizing and plotting (printing) as well as pattern manipulation and marker making. This program is a continuation of Advanced Gerber Accumark: Pattern Making and Grading Level 1. Students should complete level 1 before enrolling for level 2.
Important Notes
- Classes of two or fewer students are considered private classes. In this instance, you’ll complete all assignments as listed in six weeks rather than eight.
- Students are given a total of 3 hours of additional lab time, during the length of their course. Please e-mail us at op@the-cuttingroom.com for date and times. Hours are given on a first come, first serve base. Any additional lab time can be bought for an hourly rate
Housekeeping
- Please arrive to class on time
- If you’re going to miss class for any reason, please email in advance to let us know. If you fail to report your absence within 24 hours, your class will be considered a missed session and no make up class will be provided
- You’re permitted one make up class per session, as long as it’s taken within the time frame of your course and as long as a spot becomes available during another class
Meet your professors
Jessica Hsu
Jessica has worked in the fashion industry for almost three decades for brands such as Karma Athletics, Lotuswear Designs Ltd., and Design Group—just to name a few. Currently Jessica is a Senior Technical Pattern Maker at Arcteryx. In addition to Jessica's impressive career, she designs, creates and produces pet wear, uniforms, wedding gowns and other custom formal wear with impressive results. Jessica is an alumni of the prestigious Central Saint Martins School of Design.
Jessica is the head of Technical Pattern Making at The Cut Fashion Design Academy as well as the Head of TCFDA's Gerber Program.
Maya Grigoruk
Maya is the head pattern drafter at Designer Apparel Services for almost 3 years. She also does marker making, grading and oversees production. She has experience patterning for Swimwear, Womens, Mens and Kids clothing brands. Maya graduated in 2017 with her Bachelor’s in Fashion Design & Technology from The Wilson School of Design at KPU. She’s had her past work shown at Vancouver Fashion Week and in Vogue UK magazine. Maya has an interest in environmental aspects in the fashion industry. She has also started her own line Second Life Apparel which reworks thrift clothing.
